A fully flat floor, extra-long seat rails, and flexible layouts for multiple scenarios...
Officially launched on September 7, Xiaomi SkyNomad takes the possibilities of SUV interior space to new heights with the Xiaomi Kunlun Technical Architecture.

Greater space also presents greater safety challenges.
The Xiaomi Armor Scale Battery remains fire-free at 55°C when fully charged. The vehicle also features an Armor Cage-type body structure, an integrated hot-stamped door ring, 90.4% high-strength steel, and 2,200 MPa Xiaomi Ultra-High-Strength Steel. Whether these specifications presented at the launch can be consistently achieved in every production vehicle depends on dimensional accuracy and consistency throughout the manufacturing process.
VISION3D provides a complete range of in-line blue-light 3D measurement solutions for the battery pack, door ring, other core components, and body-in-white assembly of the Xiaomi SkyNomad Series, safeguarding the final precision checkpoint between safety by design and safety in production.
Dual-Robot Coordinated Blue-Light Inspection for Complete Battery Pack Feature Coverage
The Xiaomi Armor Scale Battery's 18 layers of robust physical protection and 500 J bottom-impact resistance depend on high-precision battery pack inspection.

For full-dimensional exterior inspection after sealing on the production line, VISION3D deployed a dual-robot coordinated blue-light measurement solution. It addresses three major battery pack inspection challenges: large dimensions, diverse features, and high data volumes.
Synchronized Scanning with Dual Blue-Light Measuring Heads
Two robots, each equipped with a PowerScan 5M330Pro blue-light measuring head, perform comprehensive scanning and inspection of the battery enclosure.
Each measuring head provides a single-scan coverage area of 300 × 200 mm, an effective measurement depth of 300 mm, and single-frame accuracy of 0.02 mm, balancing inspection efficiency and accuracy.

Complete Feature Coverage in a Single Scan
From datum holes and the overall bottom-surface profile to mounting-hole installation surfaces and side-beam sealing surfaces, all 238 features are captured in a single scan, replacing conventional sampling inspection.
Fully Automated Data Workflow
Battery pack arrival, identity recognition, gantry loading, inspection and weighing, point-cloud analysis, report generation, and Pass/NG signal feedback are all fully automated. The dimensional data of every battery enclosure is comprehensively archived and can be traced at any time.

By enabling synchronized scanning with two measuring heads, the solution completes the battery pack scanning and measurement stage in only 109 seconds, meeting the production line's requirements for both high accuracy and short cycle times.
As Xiaomi SkyNomad officially described it: "During blue-light inspection, fully automated AI vision robots use dual blue-light scanning heads to scan the battery pack, collecting millions of points and performing high-precision dimensional measurement of the entire pack. The measurement accuracy is an order of magnitude higher than that of conventional gauges."
Fixed and Mobile Stations Work Together to Inspect Complex Door-Ring Features
The integrated hot-stamped door ring fitted to the Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 Max measures 3.3 m long and 1.5 m high and spans the A, B, C, and D pillars. As a core load-bearing component of the Armor Cage-type body structure, its dimensional accuracy directly affects body-in-white assembly quality and the vehicle's crash-safety performance.

To meet inspection requirements at multiple door-ring production stages, including post-welding and assembly, VISION3D adopted a coordinated fixed-station and mobile-station measurement solution.
The fixed measurement station performs high-precision, full-dimensional inspection during mass production to maintain a stable cycle time. The AutoScan-M mobile 3D measurement and inspection station combines a blue-light area-scanning measuring head with a mobile robotic platform. Without requiring long guide rails, it can cover the inspection of oversized door rings through segmented measurement at multiple stations, as described below:
Stationary-Mobile Coordination for Flexible Inspection
The fixed measurement station uses one robot equipped with a PowerScan 12M300 blue-light measuring head. Working with two motorized rotary tables, it provides complete dimensional coverage of the large door ring.
With automatic path planning, the AutoScan-M mobile station flexibly adapts to different workstations. It supports flexible switching between left- and right-side components and multiple workpiece variants, with no significant loss of accuracy in long-distance measurement applications.

(Fixed Measurement Station Layout)
The measuring head provides single-frame accuracy of 0.015 mm, a single-frame scanning time of 0.4 seconds, and a measurement point spacing of 0.08 mm, combining oversized coverage with high-precision detail capture.
One-Time Inspection of Complex Special Features
Special features such as nut holes, threaded holes, flanged holes, irregular holes, studs, and bolts can be captured in a single inspection. The measurement accuracy for threaded holes, studs, and bolts is ≤0.2 mm. The system also supports scanning verification of weld positions.

Adaptability to Multiple Surface Materials
Hot-stamped galvanized steel, aluminum-silicon coatings, shot-blasted and oiled surfaces, aluminum alloys, and conventional bare sheet metal can all be scanned directly without surface pretreatment. This significantly reduces preparation processes and improves production-line adaptability.
The fixed measurement station maintains the mass-production cycle time, while the mobile station supports inspection across multiple workstations. Together, they create a comprehensive inspection layout that combines stationary and mobile measurement. Scanning and report generation for a single door ring are completed in 15 minutes, substantially shortening the inspection cycle compared with conventional coordinate measuring machines and helping ensure door-ring assembly accuracy.
In-Line Blue-Light Measurement Station Ensures Body-in-White Dimensional Consistency
The safety performance of the Armor Cage-type body structure depends not only on material strength but also on the dimensional consistency of every vehicle produced.

To address the large number of measurement points, tight cycle times, and complex operating environment involved in inspecting the Xiaomi SkyNomad body-in-white frame assembly, VISION3D developed an in-line blue-light 3D measurement station based on distributed coordination and grouped measurement.
Distributed Multi-Robot Coordination
Six robots, each equipped with a PowerScan 5M180Pro blue-light measuring head, are positioned around the front, rear, left, right, and top of the vehicle body. They work together to complete in-line measurement of the entire body frame while eliminating measurement blind spots.

Flexible Grouped Measurement
During mass production, the system uses a flexible combination of "mandatory measurement groups + optional measurement groups" to inspect 200 critical points in 33 seconds. This replaces conventional off-line sampling inspection and prevents nonconforming products from moving downstream. During the production-launch stage, the system switches to full-dimensional mode and scans approximately 1,600 measurement points in 45 minutes, providing data support for process validation.

High Accuracy and Adaptability to Complex Operating Conditions
The PowerScan 5M180Pro measuring head provides single-frame accuracy of 0.015 mm and a single-frame scanning time of 0.2 seconds, enabling fast, high-precision capture of critical body-in-white features. The measuring head features an industrial-grade protection rating. Together with the station's temperature-control, vibration-isolation, and light-shielding design, it effectively withstands temperature and humidity fluctuations and vibration interference on the final assembly line, ensuring stable measurement under complex operating conditions.
The solution enables synchronized operation of multiple measuring heads. The same station supports both high-speed inspection during mass production and full-dimensional validation during production launch, substantially shortening the overall inspection cycle for each body-in-white assembly.

From the battery pack and door ring to the body-in-white assembly, all three solutions use VISION3D's PowerScan Series blue-light measuring heads and proprietary VisionInspect 3D measurement software as a unified technology platform. All data is archived and traceable, creating a complete closed loop from measurement to data management.
