Point spacing describes the distance between adjacent data points and is commonly used when discussing 3D scanner resolution. Smaller point spacing helps preserve more surface detail but increases data volume and processing time. Larger point spacing is better suited to quickly capturing the overall shape of a large object. Point spacing and 3D scanning accuracy are not the same: point spacing describes model detail density, while accuracy describes how closely measured results match the object's true dimensions.

2. Why Is Single-Line Mode Better for Deep-Hole Scanning?
H1 PRO supports a deep-hole scanning ratio of up to 1:3 in Single-Line Mode. A single laser line can more easily reach geometry with a restricted line of sight, making this mode suitable for deep holes, narrow slots, and cavities that are difficult to cover with wider scan patterns.
Actual capture results are also affected by opening size, hole depth, inner-wall material, reflectivity, and occlusion. During scanning, slowly adjust the angle from multiple directions so the laser line covers different inner walls. If an internal surface is highly reflective, apply an appropriate surface treatment.
3. Do Glass and Reflective Surfaces Always Require Scanning Spray?
Not always. It depends on the material.
H1 PRO can usually test-scan mildly reflective surfaces directly. If the point cloud remains continuous and tracking is stable, continue scanning. If missing data, noise, or tracking interruptions persist, use scanning spray or another suitable surface treatment.
Glass, transparent materials, and mirror-like highly reflective surfaces can allow scanning light to pass through or produce unstable reflections, so they usually require surface preparation first. This makes the surface easier to recognize and helps produce more complete data.
4. Do You Need to Restart If Marker Positioning Is Lost?
No. You can add new markers during scanning and continue from an area near the existing data without rescanning completed sections.
VOXMETA software continuously maintains global marker coordinates for 3D scanner positioning. Previously captured data has already been positioned and aligned. Newly added markers provide tracking references for subsequent areas and do not alter existing scan results.
When adding markers, ensure that they have enough visible overlap with the scanned area and maintain an irregular distribution. Avoid arranging markers in a straight line, placing them too close together, or positioning them where they can easily occlude one another.
5. How Can You Avoid Scanning the Table or Areas Below the Part?
H1 PRO can use the Background Plane feature in VOXMETA software to exclude unwanted areas and reduce manual cleanup of worktable data.
After scanning the markers, click “Remove Plane” to create a Background Plane, then adjust the plane height according to the positions of the worktable and part. Once configured, the software can filter areas below the Background Plane during capture, reducing table, support-surface, or part-underside data in the scan result.
A Background Plane reduces invalid data and simplifies subsequent mesh processing. After adjusting it, test-scan a short section to confirm that the target part remains complete before continuing with the final capture.
6. What Are the H1 PRO Warranty and Repair Procedures?
H1 PRO includes a one-year warranty. If the device develops a fault, first contact the VoxMeta support team and provide your order information, device serial number, and photos or videos that show the problem.
